Depression: "Depressed you say!? How is that possible given you are so awesome Goldfinger?" Great question, I am depressed because it is the middle of winter and I am stuck in the good for nothing state of Wisconsin. To make matters worse, I am a Ohio State and Chicago Bears fan; and if you follow sports at all you know Wisconsin is like kryptonite to those teams. In no way to I think Wisconsin is better at sports than any of my teams, rather I believe the teams I root for are composed of plain nice guys (see http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/blog/the_dagger/post/A-sign-mocking-Jared-Sullinger-will-soon-hang-at?urn=ncaab-319144) and let the teams and players from Wisconsin win because they feel bad for them. Honestly, unless you like snowmobiling, ice fishing or hunting, Wisconsin does not really have much to offer.
Lazy: I think this category is pretty self-explanatory, given I am gong to be a real person soon, I am spending my remaining time at college trying to do the least amount of work as possible, and succeeding! I recently have (re)watched 5 seasons of Scrubs and got caught up on 5 different TV shows. So as you can see, who has time to write blog posts with all that excitement going on around me.
Busy: This category probably has the most to do with the fact I have not posted in awhile... Recently, baseball season (or is it cross country?) started for me and that has been taking up a lot of my time. You see, despite being recruited to college to play baseball, I'm pretty sure there has been a horrible mix-up and I somehow joined the cross-country team. My practices consists of running in circles for an hour at a time followed by five min of baseball related activities. After these practices I am too physically exhausted to come back to my dorm and write a blog post of the quality you deserve.
Baseball (cross-country) practice has lead me to a realization however that I would like to share with all of you: "Cross Country is not a real sport." My definition of a sport is "something with a ball, or ball substitute, where you can play defense." This may upset some of you because it excludes such great sports as "cheerleading" or "bowling." However, even if I expand my definition, I cannot fathom a world where cross country is included. Much like NASCAR, cross-country is seemingly just people going in a circle for the hell of it. In another random thought, how are cross-country runners punished by coaches? In real sports, when you mess up, you get on the line and run; for cross country runners this would be enjoyable.
I hope that is enough ranting for the day. I hope you found this blog post as funny and entertaining as I did therapeutic. For my Youtube video, I am going to post a great scene from a great movie, Bull Durham is one of the best sports films of all time and it is impossible to watch this scene and not love baseball (watch til 2:30).
Until next time,
Goldfinger
